One of our favorite literary holidays each year is March 2 — Dr. Seuss’s birthday, which corresponds with the NEA’s now twenty-year-old program, Read Across America/Hats Off to Reading. This year, we celebrated in two big ways:
1. Share Laughter – Donations to the Children’s Hospital Colorado
This year, we were delighted to donate a carefully selected assortment of licensed Dr. Seuss to the Children’s Hospital Colorado location closest to our headquarters. Teachers Loving Children made the Gazette’s front page with their volunteer-driven Dr. Seuss celebration at the Briargate location, and they were kind enough to share some photos from the day. As a private, not-for-profit pediatrichealthcare network, Children’s Hospital Colorado is 100% dedicated to caring for kids at all ages and stages of growth. We’ve seen the ways that a fun, silly hat, headband, or other whimsical wearables spreads a big of fun and laughter to kids who are battling chronic or acute illness, and it’s one of our favorite ways to give back to our community.
2. Wear Happiness – elope’s Annual Dr. Seuss Dress-Up Day!
We don’t turn down an opportunity to wear our happiness proudly. Our Dr. Seuss Dress-Up Day is an opportunity for the entire elope team to express their love of characters from any of the books represented in our Dr. Seuss collection. From characters like Cat in the Hat with his pals Thing One and Thing Two, to Horton, to the Lorax, it’s hard not to find something that would make even The Grinch smile. Our thanks to the licensing team at Dr. Seuss, and to the Children’s Hospital Colorado for making our 2017 Dr. Seuss celebration the best one yet!
