With The Hobbit Trilogy coming to a close this coming holiday season, we wanted to celebrate the fantastic stories that revolve around The One Ring. J. J. R. Tolkien released his first tale of Middle Earth, The Hobbit, in 1937. The book was massively popular in both the UK and US, which prompted Tolkien to produce a sequel, The Lord of the Rings. Here are things you need to know about The One Ring, and why it truly does rule them all.

1. These are the best selling books OF ALL TIME

Author J. R. R. Tolkein’s universe captures the imagination of people all over the world. There are over 150 million copies sold of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, making it the second-best selling book ever. The Hobbit has seen similar success, selling over 100 million copies, making it sixth on the all-time best seller list. The books, set in Tolkein’s beautifully depicted “Middle-earth,” have inspired generations of readers and multimedia artists of every stripe — we’re talking musicians, painters, radio broadcasters, photographers, COS Players, video gamers and more fans than one blog post could describe.

2. LOTR is the best on screen trilogy

Bringing in $1,030,181,320 in total Box Office, The Lord of the Rings is one of the most successful film trilogies ever. The franchise has received 30 Academy Award nominations, winning 17 of those, including; Best Picture of 2004 for Return of the King.

3. The Hobbit films are popular because they return us to Middle-earth

The Hobbit sets up a new trilogy bringing fans back into the theaters. The first two films of the trilogy brought in $561,370,4233, giving it similar success in the box office as LOTR. The final film will be in theaters on 12/17/2014.

4. Fans, Fans, FANS!

The One Ring series has one of the largest fan bases in the world. Since the late 1930’s, people have enthusiastically followed and loved the power of The One Ring. In fact, when the first official fan site debut in 2001, the actor for Fordo Baggins, Elijah Wood, was the first fan to sign up. Even our staff has fallen to the power of The Ring. Our Warehouse Manager loves to roam the halls as Gandalf.

5.  elope’s The One Ring Line

Coming this Holiday, we’re developing our own line of The One Ring products! We’re pretty darn excited to be working on The One Ring Scarf and Slouchy Hat, which should be out just in time for you to bundle up while you wait in line for the midnight screening of The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies.
